Space 2026 is ready to blast off – with activities now online and more being added daily.
Funded by Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams, the Space summer programme brings together public, voluntary and private sector organisations to provide enjoyable, positive activities for young people. These activities aim to increase their skills, improve their health and wellbeing and create opportunities, while also aiming to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour during the school summer holidays.
In 2025, over 9,000 young people, aged between 8 and 17, enjoyed 2,429 activities as part of the Space programme. There were over 23,000 attendances at events, equating to 46,988 hours of engagement.
Space 2026 will run from Monday 27 July until Friday 28 August and will offer a variety of activities including swimming and gym passes, multi sports and park events, trips out and arts and crafts.
Space was relaunched in 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength, contributing to a 81.9% reduction in youth ASB during the summer period since 2016. When the programme began, 1,310 reports of youth-related ASB were recorded, compared to 237 in 2025.
